Notes

General notes:
Vol. 1-3 prepared by Ebenezer Sibly, and after his death by John Wilkes, John Jones, LL. D & Greville Jones. According to Hulth the portrait by Chapman of Linnaeus, dated Oct 16, 1802, which forms the frontispiece in this set, was issued with Vol. 9 and was coloured. Hulth's statement, that the first seven volumes had no connexion [sic] with Linne's work, is incorrect.
Contents notes:
Provenance:
Title history:
The extreme dates cited on the plates range from 1 June 1794 (in Vol. 10) to 14 Aug 1809 (Vol. 12.) The work appears to have been issued in 198 (monthly) numbers, and was originally intended to form fifteen volumes ("Address", Vol. 1, p. iii) but the section on Mineralogy was eventually combined with Botany to form Vol. 14.
