Bound in contemporary calf with decorative borders stamped and gilt on boards. Spines with five raised bands flanked by gilt double fillets. Red morocco lettering-pieces with gilt double fillets and decorative borders on the vertical edges, and gilt titles: SKETCH / OF A TOUR / ON THE / CONTINENT. Gilt volume numbers in the panels below. Red and blue speckled edges. Rear pastedowns on vols. II-III show an offset floral decoration pattern.
Condition noted; 20050315.; All boards rubbed, with some lateral tearing; staining especially on front board of vol. 1. Endpapers showing perimeter stains from adhesives, and tearing at gutters. Cockling. Imperfection in paper, nearly a perforation, in vol. I, I7; hole near gutter in vol. II, X7. Small stain on vol. III Q2r.
Condition noted; 2014. Good.
