Wittrock, Veit Brecher (born May 5, 1839 in Holm, Daisland - died September 1, 1914 in Bergelund, Stockholm) was Swedish botanist, especially algae researcher. PhD in Uppsala in 1866. He was professor of Botany at Stockholm and Director of the Bergius Botanical Garden. In the late 1800s, Wittrock wrote a history of the cultivated pansy, and gave it its botanical name, <Viola x wittrokiana>.
