Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778) wrote mainly in Latin, the international language of science at the time. This work is written in Swedish, as were other reports he wrote at the behest of the Swedish Government. This is a report on plants suitable for making bread and other foodstuffs, written after a crop failure in 1757. It is a very rare tract. According to the Linnaean bibliography compiled by Basil Soulsby in the 1930s, there are only three other copies, two held by the Linnean Society of London and one at the Library of Congress, Washington.
