Title history:
On the title page is printed: "Cum privilegio S:ae R:ae M:tis Sveciae & Electoris Saxon." This addition, to prevent piracy in Germany and elsewhere, appears on the issue intended for other countries than Sweden. In the Ratio Editionis Linnaeus gives a list of the twelve editions of the Systema naturae, with notes also of his collections and patrons, with a list of his expeditions and of those of 14 of his pupils.
