London copy 2 has on the front pastedown the printed label of the Stoker bequest, 1964. - Wisley copy 1 has ink inscription on front free endpaper verso: Presented to the Royal Horticultural Society Wisley by Miss A. M. Birkbeck 1910; the title-page is signed by A. M. Birkbeck, and the name Gardner is written at the top of the frontispiece (note that Gardner was the maiden name of Anna Margaret Birkbeck, d. 1851, the wife of George Birkbeck, the founder of the Mechanics' Institution). - Wisley copy 2 bears on its front pastedown the engraved armorial bookplate of John Somers Lord Somers, with motto Prodesse quam conspici; also pasted on is the visiting card of Charles Cooper of Woodcroft, Sutton, Surrey, inscribed "presented by".
