Copy 1: Gurney Wilson bequest, 1957. This copy bears on the front pastedown a coloured engraved bookplate: "Presented by the Society of Apothecaries of London to Mr. Beng. Clifton Henderson, as a testimony of their approbation of the attention paid by him to the Science of Botany. Septr. 8, 1807.
Copy 1 has various cuttings pasted on the front endpapers, and ink annotations on the fly-leaf. Pasted at the base of the title-page is an obituary notice for William Anderson of the Chelsea Physic Garden, annotated in ink "Oct. 1846". Miscellaneous ink and pencil annotatations scattered infrequently throughout, e.g. "June 16 -/35-" on p. 89, "4 miles from Uxbridge" on p. 385 (as a gloss on Harefield), etc.
Pencilled annotation in Florence Cardew's hand, on front free endpaper of copy 2: 'According to Frankland in a letter Oct. 24, 1778 "Mr Tof-d has had no small hand in Hudson's book and being a hot violent arbitrary man, 6 ft. high, has, I suppose, bullied little Hudson into a number of alterations". = Thomas Tof
