Notes

General notes:
Burman in his preface lays great emphasis on his attempt, in the appendix entitled "Series zoophytorum", to produce a classification of zoophytes, on which he was assisted by Peter Simon Pallas, whose definition of them as "plantas quasi animatas, vel animalia in plantae formam excrescentia" he quotes. All these were later reclassified as animals.
